Lights

I’m an autistic, non-binary creative who loves birds, bugs, and art. Having to face the things people assume about me is frustrating, but it’s important to acknowledge. For this project, I wanted to go for a less literal approach in who I am- I left out literal depictions of my interests in favor of a more illustrative feeling. I wanted to portray how I felt in both images of me- one of comfort and wonder and the other of a harsh, blinding light. Autism is something that is usually talked about in whispers, or is pushed to the side- the light in my piece is supposed to reflect that. I want to be seen as who I am without having to hide these things anymore.
