As a Person

I didn’t know where to start with the project. I did a little bit of interviewing with my roommates. The first portrait is based on my roommates responses: I was artistic, gay/ace, independent, and super religious. The second one is based on my hopes, dreams, and problems. I am religious, but I wouldn’t say that I am “super” into it. Maybe I was back then, but for a while I didn’t really feel connected to God. If anything I was angry because I didn’t feel like God or my church saw me as anything other than someone who’s only purpose in life was to be a sex machine or a baby factory. It hurt real bad that I would sometimes ask him, “Why can’t you see me as a person?” That’s all I really want to be seen as; someone who has hopes, who has dreams, and who has problems.
